The deadline for entering the
RWA's Golden Heart contest is coming up fast. The cut-off is November 15th, assuming the contest hasn't hit the 1200 manuscript limit before that point. Once you enter, you have until December 3rd to send in your manuscript.
If you're sitting on a completed manuscript, but haven't decided whether you want to enter or not, check out the last month's worth of blog posts over at the
Wet Noodle Posse. The Wet Noodle Posse is a group of former Golden Heart finalists and they've been doling out tons of advice about the contest throughout October. They've covered everything from the contest categories to editing techniques and just about everything in between. Be sure to check out the comments in addition to the blog posts themselves, because there's even more advice to be found there.
I'm entering two manuscripts this year. You don't get any feedback but you
do get to see how your manuscript fared relative to all the other entries (i.e. top quarter, top half) and, of course, you have the chance to final ... and thus be read by several editors.
