Even a few years ago, I felt most Canadians celebrated the birth of our country in a subdued way. Yes, there were fireworks and a few flags waving, but really, not all that much excitement unless you were on The Hill (Parliament Hill, Ottawa).
Now, I pass cars on the road with their Canadian flags flapping proudly from the window, see kids routinely face-painted with the red maple leap and adults with temporary tattoos. As I drive along a street, there are flags on stores, apartment buildings, and corporate towers.
Is it just me, or have we become more visibly patriotic? Even if it's just me, I love it!
